Are you being asked to do more with less these days? We hear this all the time from our overextended friends in talent. And that’s why we’re working hard behind the scenes at Gem to help accelerate your hiring processes and strengthen your impact—even if you’re a small team that’s expected to deliver big results.
In this article, we’ll share our latest product updates and give you some ideas about how they can help lighten your load.
The TL;DR version
You’ll see we made improvements across every part of Gem. We've streamlined the AI Sourcing experience, expanded global outreach with WhatsApp Business, and given Gem ATS teams more control over permissions and workflows.
Key highlights:
Gem Platform: Expand global outreach with WhatsApp Business integration
AI Sourcing: Streamlined search with a new consolidated experience
Gem ATS: Enhanced team controls with custom default roles and permissions
Other key updates: Across Gem ATS, CRM, and Scheduling

Platform: Expand your global outreach with our WhatsApp Business integration
Are you trying to connect with candidates in markets where email response rates are low but WhatsApp engagement is high? We’ve got you! You can now communicate directly with candidates via our new WhatsApp Business integration. Add WhatsApp stages to your sequences and send one-off messages directly from candidate profiles. Plus, you can find the perfect mix of automation and customization by starting conversations with pre-approved message templates and switching to free-form messaging once candidates respond (within a 24-hour window).
AI Sourcing: Simplified search experience
We have a hunch you’re using AI because you want to speed things up. That’s why our updates to AI Sourcing make the search experience even faster and more intuitive. You can now edit filters and criteria on a single full-screen page, click directly on filter chips to open edit modals, and see how criteria changes affect the sample candidate pool in real-time. Plus, we’ve got even more new features to help you do more:
Customizable criteria: Edit preset AI scoring criteria like years of experience to match your specific requirements
Keyboard shortcuts: Use keyboard shortcuts and set default Yes/No actions to review candidates faster
Confidential searches: Keep sensitive executive searches private from your broader team
Gem ATS: Enhanced team controls with custom default roles and permissions
Ever get overburdened by the manual work involved in adding new users to your ATS? Those days are done! With expanded permission management, you can now set custom roles as the default for new users, automatically assigning the right permissions without manual setup. Add granular controls for private note visibility, template editing, scorecard privacy settings, and confidential job access. And teams with SAML enabled can pass custom role attributes through identity providers for seamless user provisioning.
Other key updates
And here’s a quick overview of all this month’s other updates across Gem products.
Platform & CRM
Enhanced AI follow-up generation: Send hyper-personalized sequences with improved AI personalization that automatically references your company information and job descriptions in Gem.
Workday ATS integration - Source stage restrictions in Application Review: Control which stages users can action on in App Review, giving admins more granular workflow control.
Application Review access control: Team admins can now control Application Review permissions with new read-only access options for viewing without editing.
Gem ATS
Job templates for consistent hiring: Create reusable job templates from scratch or existing jobs, then use them as starting points for new roles.
Automatic sequence pause when jobs close: Set sequences to automatically archive and stop emailing prospects when the linked job is filled.
Reusable intro/outro sections for job posts: Create standardized "About Us" sections and other boilerplate content that can be toggled on/off for individual job posts.
Filter applications by recruiter/sourcer: View only the applications assigned to you with new filters in the Candidates view.
Gem Scheduling
Zoom integration enhancement - Alternate hosts: Ensure smooth interview handoffs by assigning all interviewers as meeting alternative hosts to prevent disruptions when someone leaves the call early.
Training program details in calendar events: Calendar events now show which training phase interviewers are in, providing clearer context for interview preparation and feedback.
We’ll be back again soon with more updates to supercharge your hiring processes and make you even more awesome at your job than you already are!
