About Vectorworks
More than 685,000 designers in over 100 countries rely on Vectorworks technology to sketch, draw, and model their building information modeling (BIM), landscape design, and entertainment projects. This $1 billion company, a subsidiary of the Nemechek Group, is known for attracting great talent—and keeping it. Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist Martina Branan says that in her seven years at the company, attrition has remained consistently low.
Martina attributes Vectorworks’ high retention to its focus on cross-functional collaboration and employee growth: “Because we're so collaborative, it allows people to not only grow in their roles, but also just be exposed to multiple departments.” She cites one recent example of the web marketing team partnering with the R&D team to build the opening screen of the software, a collaboration you’d be hard-pressed to find at other companies.
When it comes to their hiring process, Martina believes it’s important to be just as innovative and tech-forward as the rest of the company. She explains, “Innovation is one of our core values. And we do everything to try to be the best internally and externally. So the systems we use internally—our ATS, our CRM—those have to be just as good as the product that we're building for our customers.”
We spoke with Martina to learn more about the challenges she was facing with her legacy ATS and why she turned to Gem to solve them.

Describing their previous ATS, Martina says, “It's a big product. It's hard to use
